Lang Lang: Popular classical

Popular classical music

While we accept that classical music is not necessarily to everyone’s taste, a basic knowledge of it is as integral to our cultural understanding as is an appreciation for the paintings of the Old Masters, or da Vinci. Composers used a different medium, but nevertheless their work is art.

The cultural influence of classical music is massive, and if you are man who seeks self-improvement and an appreciation of the arts, then a basic knowledge of this genre is essential. But with such a vast range of “classical” music (classical is now used as an all-encompassing term to include Baroque and Romantic music as well, despite being a separate genre itself), knowing where to begin can be daunting. That’s where we come in; to provide a list of 10 masterworks that every man ought to recognize.

These classical music pieces men should know are so frequently heard in popular culture that they present an ideal opportunity for you to demonstrate some of your newfound knowledge when you are out and about. We have chosen these 10 pieces on the basis that they are some of the most popular (from a vast selection), and as such they make a useful launch-pad for wider exploration of the classical canon - a tasting menu, if you will. Bon appetit.

Anyone have a kid who loves little einsteins?

by bowmama

DS LOVES them. And he asked if we had the music today. I googled little einsteins music but the only disc I found on amazon had them talking over it. So, does anyone know of a CD of good classical music that has more popular classical music on it. Or maybe not popular, but more classic classical music. I may be making no sense, but thought I'd ask. Off to google some more.

Morning musume 'go girl koi no victory' music video question...?

When mari was caught 'out on a date' i read that the controversy was over the girls not being allowed to have boy friends, to supposedly 'keep the single image' BUT in the music video 'go girl koi no victory' i read that the girls were asked to say 'suki' (i love you) to the camera pretending that it was their boyfriends...now..can someone explain this controdiction to me?

it was just part of the act...something Tsunku came up with..has nothing to do with this controversy...but as you know..Morning Musume tends to be directed to males..that's why they have the whole cute not but sexy japanese girl thing going on. when they are saying "suki" they are saying it to the camera...which means their looking into the camera...their looking at you..so they are saying "i love you" to you..the person watching the music video. so...its what every fanboy wants. a Morning Musume girl saying "i love you" to them.. hope this helps..
