Classic Soul Music

60's Soul Mix: 50 Classic Tracks to Feed Your Soul is by and large a soul starter kit, but it's a good one, smartly and tastefully compiling 50 classic cuts from across the spectrum of the genre. Seasoned soul collectors need not bother, but it's highly recommended to younger listeners who've grown tired of contemporary urban radio and want to begin digging deeper. Sequenced like a night out at a Northern Soul club, with each cut spinning directly into the next, the two-disc set flows from radio favorites like Sly & the Family Stone's "Everyday People" to cult classics like Gloria Jones' "Tainted Love" to Northern landmarks like Frank Wilson's "Do I Love You (Indeed I Do)". None of the material is particularly hard to find, but all are examples of classic soul at its very best, and even if the package is not for longtime collectors, it's not hard to imagine it giving birth to some new ones.

Classic rock and soul -- Wedding dance songs

by Lucky_222

I'm going to be DJing at a good friend's wedding in a few months and I'm looking for suggestions for some GOOD songs to get the dance floor going. The criteria is pretty strict: classic rock, soul or funk only, NO modern stuff, for god sake NO disco, no obvious cookie-cutter choices like Love Train or Brick House or YMCA. Just good stuff with a serious danceable vibe. So far I've got:
T-Rex: Bang a Gong
James Brown: It's a New Day
David Bowie: Queen Bitch
Stevie Wonder: Boogie on Reggae Woman
Bob Dylan: Forever Young
